Lisa Mumby - University Placement

This experience has been an evolving journey, which has extended my abilities on both a personal and practical level.

I came to Action Factory feeling somewhat like I was 'floating' somewhere in the middle of being a student and an artist. I now feel in a much greater position to make this transition with the new skills and knowledge that I have acquired, alongside constant encouragement and support of the team.

Having gained access in to participatory arts I have grown and developed to understand the importance of universal aims involving diversity, participation and enjoyment. I have also become greatly aware of the importance of the needs of the community and I now understand the political context in which government strategies inform art and artists.

The interaction with artists has been particularly beneficial to my own working practice and I have become increasingly self-motivated and independent through my studies.

Finally, being part of such a creative team has left me feeling exhilarated and inspired!
