Owning Creativity - Peel Park Primary School

Owning Creativity, a banner project which took place at Peel Park Primary School in Accrington was designed to identify the school as a creative space and develop with all 3 classes in Year 3 to develop a series of simple bright banners with proclamations and images about creativity from the children.

The themes for the banners were aspiration, creativity, communication and fun. Pupils were involved in all aspects of the project including design and configuration of the banners, discussing the colour and the 'language' of colour, developing the content and producing the finished pieces.

The pupils worked in teams and decided on the visual theme of their banner and then designed individual pieces which were brought together to create the group banner. The pupils used fabric painting and applique techniques to make the panels.

Each class created four banners which are now displayed in the school hall for all to enjoy.
