The project began during Stoneyholme Primary School's anti bullying week. Teachers collaborated with visual artists and poets to enable classes of year five pupils to explore issues around bullying and anti bullying practice. The poets explored language linked to emotions and the teachers continued the work in classes during the following weeks.

The children then collaborated with visual artists to develop the literature produced into sculptural pieces using a variety of materials with the aim of these to be incoporated into the outdoor learning environment. Children were also involved in developing the budget and risk assessments for each medium they chose to use.

The project resulted in several impressive mosaics, an array of resin and ceramic pieces and a multi functional notice board which pupils thought could be used to record football scores or display art work.

The permanent display of these pieces within the schools outdoor learning environment will be a visible product of the children's contribution and learning. It should have a positive effect on self-esteem and confidence and be visually, creatively and intellectually stimulating and act as a tool for discussion and problem solving in the future. The art work will help to reinforce positive anti-bullying messages throughout the school.
