UCLAN Summer School

Action Factory provided activities for prospective students of the university at taster summer schools. Those attending the events were given the task of creating a large sculture from newspapers. The time frame was very tight so the process needed to be very structured and the group divided in to smaller teams who needed to make decisions and communicate with the others on things such as scale, style and methods.

The two sessions, one at Preston and one at Penrith campus meant the group had a chance to develop their creative skills, have fun, work together with a shared goal and develop teamwork. The sessions also had space within them to discuss and reflect on their hopes and fears for the future and to think what university life might be like. The head sculptures, entitles 'The Face of the University' will be displayed at the end of the summer school for parents and students to admire.
