Woven Together

VIEW PROJECT GALLERY

The Woven Together Project was developed in association with The Foyer who were keen to use the project as a way of reaching out to diverse groups, showing that they were a resource to be accessed by others, as well as introducing their residents to other groups in the area and removing potential barriers.

The project began in July 2010 with a Community Open Day, attended by large numbers of relevant agencies and local residents.

Action Factory ran regular weekly sessions at the Foyer with the young people's group and consulted with 2 other groups to decide what activities would be used to work with these groups

Nicole Pattinson delivered Dance workshops and Peter Latham was the main Music facilitator, as well as filming parts of the process, along with Kerry Tuhill.

In December 2010, a small, informal gathering gave the participants the chance to show work created during sessions.  Work included music tracks completed with computer packages, live dance and music performance involving participants from all three groups and graffiti art.

A more high profile event is being planned in the New Year, giving all participants the opportunity to take part and to create a finished piece across the groups.

Partners involved: Blackburn with Darwen Foyer (St Vincent's Housing Association,) Children's Society Young Refugees programme, Places for People (Devonport Court.)  The funding for the project, secured by Foyer staff, came from HACT.
